The Creakes History Society

Our Programme of Speakers for the coming season is:

May 2012

Closure of the Society

The Creakes History Society is sadly dispanding after 30 years of existance as they have been unable to find any new committee members prepared to keep it going. This is a big loss to the Village Membership and to the Village Hall

----------------------- ooooo00000ooooo -----------------------

The Society was formed in 1982, and has maintained a regular membership of about forty ever since.

Meetings are held on the third Monday of the month, at 7.30pm, September to November, and January to May, with a varied programme of speakers and slide shows. Some recent topics have included The Hanseatic Port of King's Lynn, Faden's Map of Norfolk, The Holkham Archives, The History of Aviation in Norfolk, and a visit to Letheringsett Water Mill. Meetings conclude with refreshments, and an opportunity to socialize with other members, and with the speakers. During the summer we organize occasional outings to places of historic interest within the locality. We are a very friendly group, always ready to welcome both new members and occasional visitors.

Annual subscription for members is £10. Entry fee per meeting is 50p for members and £3.00 for visitors. Refreshments are included.
